He also expressed his gratitude to Congress leaders.

"I got the opportunity to serve seven crore Kannadigas as CM twice, and as Leader of Opposition twice. I thank Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge."

India and China discussed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Both countries agreed that maintaining peace along the border would ensure progress in the normalization of overall relations.

The two sides discussed various aspects of the border situation during a meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) in Beijing on Wednesday.

"The discussions were constructive and forward-looking," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, a day after the talks.

“The two sides discussed issues pertaining to delimitation, border management, mechanism building and cross-border cooperation,” the MEA said.

The Indian Premier League's 15-year-old left-handed batting sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, has broken the IPL's record for sixes in a single season. He cleared the ropes 12 times on Wednesday as he led the Rajasthan Royals to victory with 97 runs off just 29 balls.

That takes him to 65 sixes in the season, eclipsing Chris Gayle's 59 in 2012. Gayle faced 456 balls to reach that tally, Sooryavanshi needed just 266.

The teenager, who became the youngest IPL draft pick aged 13 in November 2024, also leads the IPL in overall runs, with 680 at an average of 45.33.

"What a phenomenal player Vaibhav is. Great entertainment young man! New six machine," Gayle wrote, after the "baby boss" fell just three runs shy of also breaking Gayle's record for the fastest IPL century.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan became the latest player to call on India's selectors to react to the southpaw's success.

"He is the best T20 opener in the world. India have to pick him," Vaughan asserted.

His captain at the Royals, Riyan Parag, said the youngster rarely needed guidance or advice.

"He likes batting. Just leave him alone, let him go and have fun," Parag said.

Muslims across the country gathered to offer morning prayers on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

The "feast of sacrifice" honors the Quranic story of the Prophet Ibrahim and involves the sacrifice of animals, most commonly goats.

On the occasion, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings.

"Happy Eid al-Adha. May this occasion deepen the spirit of brotherhood and happiness in our society. Praying for everyone’s success and good health," Modi wrote on X.

The day is, however, being observed amid anti-Muslim fears in many parts of the country.

In the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned against prayer congregations on roads, citing "law and order."

Ahead of the festival, the newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state of West Bengal tightened slaughter rules.

The local government banned the public slaughter of cows, bulls, and buffaloes, while also making official certification mandatory before such animals can be slaughtered.
