Hyundai electric vehicles are getting an update that enables a new FIFA World Cup 2026™ Display Theme in their infotainment systems. Well, it’s not only Hyundai EVs — a few non-EVs are getting the option as well. Also, one of the company’s EVs (one being pulled out of the US market as well) is not getting the update for some reason. That would be the Hyundai IONIQ 6.

The two battery-electric vehicles getting the new FIFA World Cup 2026™ Display Theme are the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Hyundai IONIQ 9. Additionally … the Hyundai NEXO fuel-cell electric vehicle is getting it. (Do some people actually own the NEXO? Apparently so.)

The FIFA World Cup 2026 theme is being provided in Korea, the United States, Canada, and Europe.

To get the update, one just needs to “download the theme from the Bluelink Store via the myHyundai application.” No need to go visit your local Hyundai dealer and service center.

“The theme is part of the ‘Next Starts Now’ campaign, linking the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ to Hyundai Motor’s vision of progress and innovation,” the company writes. “Features unique animations of Boston Dynamics’ Atlas® and Spot® robots, bringing the robotics vision into the driving experience. The free theme underscores the growing importance of software-enabled, customizable in-vehicle experiences for drivers.”

“As a long-term partner of the FIFA World Cup™, we continue to explore new ways for our customers to experience the passion of the tournament through their mobility journeys. The World Cup has long served as a global stage that showcases the future of football while inspiring the next generation with dreams and possibilities. The new display theme brings that vision to life, reflecting our Next Starts Now campaign by enabling customers to experience both the future of football to be unveiled at the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ and Hyundai’s vision for future mobility,” added Sungwon Jee, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer, Hyundai Motor Company.

The best way to get a sneak peek of the new World Cup inspired theme is to look at the pictures above from Hyundai, but here’s a little more info on some of the graphics at play with the theme: “The new display theme transforms the vehicle’s digital cluster and infotainment screen with dynamic World Cup-inspired designs. It features the iconic presence of Boston Dynamics’ humanoid robot,  Atlas, and the quadruped robot, Spot, appearing when turning the vehicle on and off as well as on select navigation screens.”

Exciting, right? I was being sarcastic there initially, but then I realized I really would love the theme and find it exciting. We can all be kids a bit, right?

Hyundai will also be bringing some of its robots to World Cup venues this summer — because, you know, it’s all about the robots in 2026. Its Atlas and Spot robots will be used “to enhance match operations, fan engagement, and safety and efficiency throughout the tournament.” The 2026 World Cup is taking place June 11 through July 19 in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, of course.
