How to power up the Welcome Center in Subnautica 2 and best Biomods to pick

Subnautica 2 gameplay

The Welcome Center is your first base away from the lifepod after you reach the ocean surface in Subnautica 2. It's located to the right of your lifepod (approximately 95 metres away). Your first task is to restore power to the place, which has been deserted for a long time.

How to power up the Welcome Center in Subnautica 2

To power up the Welcome Center, we will need a Basic Battery. We can craft it using the Fabricator using the following resources.

  • Two Copper: Pretty easy to find. You can mine them off the walls. Look for the cave that's directly underneath your lifepod, and you'll find the material.
  • One Acidic Raion Pouch: To get this item, you'll first need to mine Titanium (available from the same cave where you find Copper). Use the Titanium to craft a Multitool, which acts like a modified pickaxe. Then head down the same cave under your lifepod, and use the Multitool to mine one of the plants that provides you with a Gel Sac. If you don't have the Multitool, you can't get the Acidic Raion Pouch.

Return to your lifepod and use the Fabricator to get a Basic Battery. With that in the inventory, dive deep and head inside the Welcome Center. Use the battery from your inventory to power it up.

There's a coral in the middle of the room that allows you to refill your oxygen. Next, we get to pick our first sets of biomods.

Best Welcome Center biomods to pick in Subnautica 2

We will get our first Active and Passive biomods from the Welcome Center. There are two options available for each category. Here are my favorite choices.

  • Dash: It's an amazing biomod that allows you to perform a 10m dash to your target location. There's a five-second cooldown, and you can use this ability to escape enemies. You can also use this to simply move faster in dire situations, like when you're about to run out of oxygen.
  • Sea Skimmer: While Oxygen Control is a good choice, you can bypass its use with the use of advanced tools. Instead, Sea Skimmer allows you to move faster in the depths when you're near the seabed. I like it as I often love to explore the deeper areas to find those rare resources.

Ultimately, there are many more potent biomods that we get to unlock later in the game. However, the options we get at the very start are pretty useful as we are at our weakest.
