The Red-Feathered Raptor Mount in Crimson Desert can now be obtained permanently after the 1.06 update, with players able to ride around on a velociraptor if they can work out the one location where Raptors spawn and tame one.

Or rather, steal one, as Raptors are exclusively in the game as mounts for an enemy faction called the Twilight Messengers who you'll need to rob to get one. Below I'll go through the process of how to find and tame Raptors in Crimson Desert, and how to permanently get one of the coolest mounts in the game.

Raptors in Crimson Desert only spawn in the Crimson Mountains Fortress, found in the Southeast Tashkalp region of The Crimson Desert continent after which the game is named.

Specifically, Raptors are mounts for the The Twilight Messengers, a small faction of bandits who spawn in this Fortress.

Here's the problem: if you've already cleared the Crimson Mountains Fortress of enemies and liberated it, then Raptors won't spawn there. To fix this, you need to go into Settings, to the gameplay tab, and turn "Re-Blockade Frequency" to "War". This setting determines how often enemy factions retake settlements you've liberated, so it's the highest chance of it being retaken so that it will fill up with enemy raptors again.

Once you find a Red Feathered Raptor, the process of taming it is the same as taming most of the Crimson Desert Special Mounts.

  1. Use a heavy attack or Force Palm to knock the rider off the Raptor's back.
  2. Catch up with the Raptor and press the interaction button to Ride it.
  3. Feed it meat from your inventory by selecting that meat while riding and choosing the "Feed option".
  4. Once its trust reaches 100, press Y/Triangle to tame the Raptor and add it as a permanent mount.

Raptors might be cool, though they're probably not the best mount out there. They don't have a dedicated attack, they're not hugely fast, and they don't have the glide ability of the Crimson Desert Kuku Bird mount. Still, they're on par with any passable horse, so if you're in the mid-game of Crimson Desert, they're a good choice.
