Horrifying video seems to show McDonald’s worker put fries in her mouth then add them to box for customer

An investigation is underway after a horrifying video circulated on social media, appearing to show a McDonald’s worker putting fries in her mouth and then adding them to a box for a customer.

The worker at a McDonald’s in Southbridge, Massachusetts, took a fistful of salty fries, shoved them into her mouth and then put them into the iconic red fry box, according to the video that went viral last week. One co-worker was apparently filmed laughing as she held the fry box.

“I think it’s crazy that people are messing with other people’s food,” one local told Boston 25 News. “I thought it was disgusting, honestly.”

The Southbridge Police Department said in a statement that it was “aware of a video circulating online involving an employee at a local fast food restaurant allegedly contaminating food before it was served.”

The department, which didn’t name McDonald’s specifically, said it was investigating the incident alongside health officials and restaurant management.

“We are also working to determine whether the food was ultimately served to a customer and to identify any individual who may have been affected,” Southbridge Police said.

Authorities acknowledged the community’s concern over the incident.

“I’m done with this McDonald’s, at least, and I might be done for quite a while with fast food,” another resident told Boston 25 News.

Other locals called the video “unacceptable” and “crazy.”

The Independent has reached out to McDonald’s and the Southbridge Police Department for comment.

The Spadea and Balducci family, the owners and operators of the Southbridge McDonald’s, said they also found the incident reprehensible.

“The actions of these individuals are unacceptable and do not reflect our organization’s food safety standards or values," the restaurant owners said in a statement shared with multiple news outlets.

"We, as an organization, are conducting an internal review and are proactively working with local authorities and the local health department, who…found no public health concerns or violations,” the statement continued.

“The well-being and safety of our Southbridge community remains our top priority, and we are taking swift, appropriate actions.”
