Hong Kong experienced its hottest day of the year so far on Tuesday, with the city’s forecaster reporting temperatures of 31.6 degrees Celsius (88.8 Fahrenheit) at its headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui in the afternoon.

“An anticyclone aloft is bringing generally fine weather to the coast of Guangdong,” the Hong Kong Observatory said, referring to the southern mainland province.
