Magic in Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is available to every hero from the first fight. Every hero starts with a spellbook, and Tier 1–2 spells from any school can be learned by anyone from a Mage Guild regardless of specialisation. Tier 3–5 spells require the corresponding school skill (e.g., Basic Daylight Magic to access Tier 3 Daylight spells), though the Wisdom skill offers a narrower workaround at the cost of reduced mastery. Spells themselves have levels 1–4, which increase damage, extend duration, add targets, or unlock secondary effects — the tier list ranks spells at their full potential, though even Level 1 versions of the best spells are worth having.
