Google teases Gemini-powered Siri upgrade during Cloud Next keynote

Apple’s upcoming Siri overhaul got a moment of stage time during Google’s  Cloud Next ’26 opening keynote today.

Google highlights Apple Foundation Model and Apple Intelligence during keynote

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stood in front of an Apple logo on stage today where he touted having the company as a key customer.

“Earlier this year, we announced a monumental partnership with one of the world’s most iconic brands that will bring the power of our technology to users around the world,” Kurian said.

“We’re collaborating with Apple as their preferred cloud provider to develop the next generation of Apple Foundation Models based on Gemini technology. These models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming later this year.”

Apple hasn’t specified when the new Siri will arrive beyond sometime in 2026. However, we now expect the first Gemini-powered Apple Intelligence and Siri features to be a key part of iOS 27. Apple is expected to release the software update this fall.
