Glamorgan have signed experienced New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham after losing paceman Fazalhaq Farooqi for the rest of their T20 Blast campaign.

Farooqi has been recalled by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

Neesham, 35, has played 105 T20 internationals, including playing in the recent World Cup final against India in which he took three wickets.

He has played for Welsh Fire in the Hundred - plus Derbyshire, Durham, Essex and Kent - and has extensive franchise experience around the world including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Australia's Big Bash, and leagues in South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies.

Farroqi, 25, signed in March and played in the opening two games of this season's competition.

Glamorgan director of cricket Mark Wallaces said Neesham "is a fantastic addition to our Blast squad".

He added: "He's a genuine three-dimensional cricketer with the ability to change a game in a matter of balls, and his experience in high-pressure environments will be invaluable for our group."

Glamorgan respect Afghanistan call-up of Farooqi

Farooqi claimed four wickets in the defeat against Northamptonshire Steelbacks and took a further two wickets in the loss to Gloucestershire.

Glamorgan said they fully respected the ACB's decision to recall Farooqi and wished the player well with his national team.

He was one of three overseas players in their T20 Blast squad alongside Australian all-rounder Nathan McAndrew and South African batter Colin Ingram.

Only two can play in any match and McAndrew is set to make his debut when they host Somerset on Friday (18:30 BST).
