Gabe Newell makes surprise appearance in an ad for the yacht company he bought last year, riding around in his $500 million boat

Remember Gabe Newell's superyacht Leviathan—the one he liked so much, he bought the whole damn company making it? Oceanco, as the company is known, has dropped a new ad for the boat and its owner, complete with appearances by Gabe himself, and it sure looks like being a super-rich guy is a pretty good time.

"With a greater purpose on how yachts are built, operated and owned, its vision is rooted in the owner's ethos of teamwork and community," the YouTube page (via Polygon) states in kind of oddly jumbled verbiage. "Leviathan's revolutionary layout, ergonomic design and the process have brought her to life."

The video itself is a mashup of extremely rich people doing extremely rich people things, while people whose net worths are presumably less filled with zeroes toil away in the background to make it all possible. They toil joyfully, of course: You can tell by the big smiles plastered across their faces as they cook, clean, lead yoga classes, and otherwise serve the people who ride around on superyachts for fun.

For those who do not toil, but merely reap its rewards, scuba diving features as a prominent activity—Newell is an avid diver—but of course there's some gaming to be done as well. Leviathan comes equipped with a full suite of what I'm sure are extremely high-end gaming laptops ('Rampocalypse' means nothing when you're riding around in a tub like this) as well as at least one Aston Martin-branded F1 racing sim pod. There's a gym, massage facilities, a helipad, what looks to be a recording studio—it's a lot!

Gabe himself can be seen, briefly, in a couple shots: One where he's discussing matters unknown with a fellow diver, and again near the end of the spot where he's laughing contentedly, presumably with people who are just offscreen. There's also a quick look at a sketch of the Valve boss and Oceanco owner, with a leviathan curling around him, festooned with the words "Thank you Gabe," so that's nice.

While the video is about Leviathan, it's not really an ad for Leviathan: You can't just pop down to the local Oceanco dealership and take one out on a 96-month lease. It's really more of a "this is what we can do for you" kind of thing, assuming you have half a billion dollars kicking around, plus whatever it costs to keep the thing crewed, stocked and fuelled.

That's not a problem for Newell, of course: It's sometimes easy to forget but he's a super-rich guy, with approximately 11 billion kicking around, according to Forbes, and a net worth that's risen substantially since 2024. And that's how it is when you're swimming in those big-money seas: If you did just pop around to Oceanco with a half-billie in your pocket and say "I want the Gaben Special," well, I'm pretty sure they'd whip one up just like it for you, too.
