A serious railway accident in northern Denmark has left four people in critical condition, with an additional 13 individuals sustaining injuries. The collision occurred between two local trains near Hillerod and Kagerup, approximately 40 kilometers north of Copenhagen.
Emergency Response and Scene Details
Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident, with dozens of personnel mobilized to address what authorities classified as a "serious accident." Video footage broadcast by Danish public television DR documented the aftermath, revealing both trains displaying significant damage to their front sections as they faced each other in a wooded location, surrounded by first responders.
A spokesperson for the rescue services confirmed the nature of the incident: "It is two local trains that have collided head-on. There are injuries among the passengers. Everyone is out of the trains, so no one is trapped... Large resources have been dispatched to the scene."
Rescue Operations and Resource Deployment
The fire department mobilized approximately 15 vehicles and 50 firefighters to the scene, supported by additional personnel from neighboring emergency services and Emergency Services RailDenmark. All injured passengers were evacuated from the trains and transported away via ambulances and helicopters.
According to emergency personnel, uninjured passengers were relocated to a designated collection point for further assistance and documentation.
