The Historical Event
The film's narrative centers on the tragic events of August 23, 2010, when a 55-year-old retired police officer commandeered a tour bus in Manila carrying 22 Hong Kong visitors and three Filipino nationals. Armed with an M-16 rifle, the perpetrator demanded his reinstatement from the police force. During extended negotiations lasting 12 hours, he released nine hostages, including both Filipino passengers.
The siege concluded with seven Hong Kong tourists and the bus operator deceased, while seven other Hong Kong nationals survived. The gunman was subsequently discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
