Ex-owner of bankrupt bakery dies after chasing thief and falling off building

The former owner of a Hong Kong bakery chain that went out of business has died after chasing a suspected thief and falling from an industrial building, the South China Morning Post has learned.
The force received a report at around 5.15pm on Sunday from a man who said he had spotted someone stealing cables at the Kimball Industrial Building in Kwun Tong.
The caller was a worker at a bakery inside the building.
AdvertisementA source told the SCMP that the victim was a man surnamed Siu, in his seventies, who owned a bakery there.
Siu was also the former owner of Hoixe Cake Shop, a bakery chain that has since been liquidated.
AdvertisementAccording to the source, Siu discovered that the rear door of the building had been opened and, suspecting theft, he began searching the premises as well as the nearby South China Factory Building.
