‘DTF St. Louis’ Creator Steve Conrad And Cast On Their “Devastatingly, Artistically, Profoundly Real” HBO Series
SPOILER ALERT: This story contains plot details of HBO‘s limited series DTF St. Louis.
Steve Conrad, creator, writer and director of HBO’s DTF St. Louis, was joined by his all-star cast recently at the Television Academy in North Hollywood to discuss to making the series and why it didn’t fit in just one box when trying to describe what it was.
“What’s really impressive about what Steve did with this, especially as a viewer, is that it’s presented as a murder mystery, and it’s not; or it’s titled as something titillating, it’s not, there’s no nudity in it; is it quirky, it’s not,” said series star Jason Bateman. “He’s able to write these characters as so unsettling, human and vulnerable and flawed and unpolished, that it ends up being the special effects, the jokes, what usually is the crutch certain sorts of entertainment lean on and do well. This isn’t that. I’m incredibly proud of being a part of this show.”
