Drug-based and manipulation-based strategies provide evidence of pronuclear competition for finite cytoplasmic resources between separate parental pronuclei in zygotes, suggesting a cell biological mechanism for the cytoplasm-mediated remote parental interaction that regulates epigenetic marks.
