Charlize Theron Pic ‘Apex’ Retains Top Spot On Netflix Top 10 Movie List
The Netflix survival thriller Apex, starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, remained the No. 1 film in the Netflix Top 10 for a second straight week with 40.2 million views, the streamer said Tuesday. This marked an increase from the film’s first week in release, when it took in 38.2 million views and was No. 1 in 82 countries.
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur and produced by Chernin Entertainment, the film follows a mountain climber (Theron) who retreats to the Australian wilderness for isolation. Her journey turns into a desperate hunt when a deceptive local (Egerton) targets her as his next ritualistic prey in the bush.
Not to be outdone, the viral song “Go” from the Chemical Brothers (feat. Q-Tip) has been climbing on Spotify Viral50 chart and it’s the No. 1 song on Shazam. The song appears in the film when Egerton’s character is dancing to it — that clip has caused its own TikTok moment

Elsewhere in the Top 10, the Netflix-Skydance Animation film Swapped, starring Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple, was No. 2 with 15.5 million views. Netflix animated pics usually have legs throughout their release, with last year’s eventual Oscar-winning smash KPop Demon Hunters bringing in only 9.2 million viewers in its first week before breaking multiple records at the streamer in the weeks to come.
