BYD’s new Song Ultra EV racks up over 60,000 orders in one month, starting at $22,000

BYD launched the Song Ultra EV in China, starting at just under $22,000. The new EV is one of the first to be equipped with its Blade Battery and Flash Charging, enabling recharge times in as little as 5 minutes. In just one month, the electric SUV secured over 60,000 orders.

After opening pre-orders for the Song Ultra EV on March 6, BYD’s new electric SUV secured 21,586 reservations in 20 days.

BYD officially launched the Song Ultra EV in China on Thursday, March 26, starting at 151,900 yuan ($22,000). That’s far lower than the expected 220,000 yuan ($31,900) starting price, and the 155,000 yuan ($22,500) pre-sale price.

In its first week on the market, the new electric SUV received over 10,000 orders. As of April 2, the total reached 37,216. According to the latest update, the new Song Ultra EV secured 61,240 orders in its first month on the market.
