EKKL Entertainment have acquired global distribution rights to biblical epic “Daniel: The Fiery Furnace,” starring Mena Massoud (“Aladdin”) and Elijah Alexander (“The Chosen”), which will release in U.S. cinemas in September.
“Daniel: The Fiery Furnace,” which is directed by Canada’s Matthew and Daniel Kooman (“She Has a Name”), is the origin story from the Old Testament of the prophet Daniel against the backdrop of his exile in Babylon.
The faith-based film is produced by the Kooman Brothers with Travis Mann (EP on “I Can Only Imagine”) and Massoud.

As Daniel (Massoud) rises within a powerful and unforgiving empire, a ruthless king (Alexander) issues a decree demanding absolute worship under penalty of death, according to the synopsis. “When three faithful men — Shadrach (Öncel Camci), Meshach (Adam Lahraoui) and Abednego (Zaki Ali) — refuse to bow, they choose to be cast into a blazing furnace rather than betray their God.”
EKKL, which was founded last year by Michael Scott — a producer of faith and inspirational cinema whose films have collectively grossed over $200 million at the box office — will release “Daniel: The Fiery Furnace” in U.S. theaters nationwide on Sept. 11.
EKKL will also be launching international sales on “Daniel” at the Cannes Film Festival through their international sales arm, which is also known as Pinnacle Peak.
“The Kooman Brothers have been making impactful and inspiring films for two decades, and EKKL looks forward to bringing their latest endeavor to the big screen on the global scale which it deserves,” Scott said in a statement. “The universal messages of this film will resonate around the world.”
The Kooman Brothers added: “We are thrilled to partner with EKKL Entertainment to bring this story to a global audience hungry for Biblical stories. This film speaks to timeless truths about courage and standing firm in the face of impossible odds.
“EKKL shares our vision for delivering meaningful, high-quality storytelling that resonates across cultures,” Mann said. “We are excited for audiences around the world to experience this film.”
