Belarus is developing infrastructure facilities deeper inside its territory, far from the border with Ukraine. At the same time, Russia could later use these sites by deploying additional forces and equipment there.

According to Ukrinform, State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said this during a television broadcast.

“As for the infrastructure facilities, they are being built deeper inside Belarusian territory. They are not located in the immediate vicinity of our border, but the risk that Russia could use them in the future – should it make such a decision and deploy additional forces there – certainly remains. At the same time, in the immediate border area, where we monitor the situation using technical surveillance equipment, video monitoring systems, and UAVs, we are fortunately not seeing any movement of military equipment or personnel. However, the risk of destabilization, provocations, or even attempts at a renewed invasion from the Belarusian direction is higher than from the direction of Transnistria,” Demchenko said.

According to the spokesperson, this is why the section of the border near Belarus – more than 1,000 kilometers long – is being strengthened both in engineering and fortification terms.

“Of course, mine and explosive barriers are being established in the most threatening areas so that every Ukrainian defender has the ability to counter any threat that may come from Belarusian territory,” he added.

As reported by Ukrinform, Belarus continues to develop training grounds and logistical routes on its territory. Russia currently does not have a sufficient military grouping in Belarus to launch an offensive against Ukraine, but the infrastructure being created there could be used at any moment.
