Black Flag voice and motion capture actor Matt Ryan is part of the problem, having told a fan in 2025 "you might have to beat [the game] again," but at least he seems to be in good spirits when he admits it.
Ubisoft posted a teaser video on Twitter starring Ryan, who also played Black Flag's hard-bitten hero Edward Kenway in the original 2013 game. He acknowledges in the clip, "Now, this ship has had more leaks than a worn-out hull – but the real treasure is still below deck."
That's somewhat hard to believe since, only this week, Black Flag Resynced has had price leaks suggesting the standard game edition will cost $59.99 / £49.99, plus in-game footage leaks showing off what looks to be seriously impressive graphics. That wasn't the case for some other, unfortunate screenshots of gameplay and a cutscene that got passed around casually online, like table salt, but Ubisoft quickly chimed in to say the images were real, just "from an old internal version of the game."
