And it’s gone: Steam Controller sold out within an hour amid all sorts of server issues

If you were looking to snag one of the hot new game controllers on the market, you likely fall into one of three categories now.
One, you got a new $100 Steam Controller. Yay! Enjoy. Or two, you tried but failed, thanks to numerous transaction error codes popping up as an influx of gamers tried using the platform to buy one. And then three: you're like me, and you were met with this screen below.

Yep. They're gone. The Steam Controller went live at 12pm CT this afternoon, and within about 45 minutes, it was showing up as out of stock. I'm sure stock will be refreshed soon enough, but this proves some high demand for the latest new toy on the market.
Valve's social media posts about the controller were filled with replies from frustrated gamers who were struggling to check out with the controller in their cart, and this really isn't a new occurrence. Steam seems to have serious issues whenever a lot of users try to access and purchase the same thing. Remember last year's Silksong fiasco?
The Steam Controller, even with its ugly touchpads taking up the bottom half of it, sounds like a solid item. TMR joysticks, haptic motors for vibration, and apparently 35 or more hours on a single charge, sounds like a joy. I'm personally more interested in the Steam Machine, which is still supposed to come out this year, but the Controller goes hand in hand with it, so I'm curious.
Were you able to grab a Steam Controller, or are you not in the market for one reason or another? Let us know in the comments below. Personally, I'm still fine with my DualSense controller for PC gaming needs, but I do think that Valve's new hardware is quite enticing despite the price tag. Maybe I'll save up for the inevitable restock...
