All Animon types and how they work in LumenTale: Memories of Trey

If you’re a seasoned veteran of the creature-collector genre, you know all about typings. In most games, each creature that you catch has a type—like Fire, Water, or Grass—with its own strengths in weakness. LumenTale: Memories of Trey follows suit but adds a fresh spin on the formula.

There are 13 total types of Animon in LumenTale, and you can find each one in both regions of Talea. Most Animon have one type, though every species has the potential to have a secondary “hidden” type. For example, Smellwing, which will always have the Virus typing, may also have the Demon typing as a secondary. It will never have any other typing in addition to Virus—only Demon.

Another area where LumenTale differs from other creature collectors is that there’s no “type chart.” Instead, each species has its own strengths and weaknesses. So, our little Virus bird Smellwing might be weak to Aura attacks, while another Virus species resists them. You discover what each species is strong or weak against by using a turn to scan them in battle, through trial and error, or by catching them if it’s a wild species. Once you’ve discovered what their strengths and weaknesses are, you can view a creature’s details in battle to remind yourself of them.

Similarly, whether a creature will resist or suffer additional damage from an incoming attack based on the type is shown when you’re selecting a move. Like in the image below, Firtrich, the Grass type, resists Ice-type attacks, as indicated by the shield icon next to its health bar.

Types also play a role in powering up your Holoken, the device you throw out to catch Animon and destroy crates for resources. As you progress through the story, you’ll unlock the ability to infuse the device with the power of your Animon, and each type gives you a unique power. The Geo type, for example, allows you to destroy giant boulders blocking your path, while the Aura type allows you to propel the purple fans you’ll find across Talea to open gates and power up structures.

Without further ado, here are all 13 Animon types in LumenTale: Memories of Trey.
