58-year-old woman used vase to murder her 93-year-old husband at 2am, cops say
A woman in North Carolina is facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly beating her 93-year-old husband to death with a vase.
Yorleni Shoff, 58, allegedly beat her husband, Richard, with a vase at their home in Salisbury, North Carolina around 2 am on April 9, according to the Charlotte Observer.
“The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Meadow Lane in Salisbury after 58-year-old Yorleni Shoff called 911 to report that her husband, 93-year-old Richard Shoff, was lying on the floor bleeding,” the sheriff's office said in a statement.
When deputies arrived, they found Richard Shoff on the floor of his home, unresponsive. The sheriff's statement says deputies found a "significant amount of blood indicating an assault had occurred."
Yorleni Shoff was initially arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Her husband spent nine days in the hospital before dying from his injuries. Her charges were then upgraded to first-degree murder.
