4 PS5 games I predict will appear in June's State of Play
I wasn't sure whether we'd see many upcoming PS5 games at Summer Game Fest 2026, but now that Sony has finally unveiled its plans for June's State of Play showcase, I'm finally feeling more optimistic about what will actually be taking the stage.
If Summer Game Fest 2026's schedule encompasses the main events, State of Play is more of a pregame. This is where I'm expecting to see the console exclusive titles having a bit of a preen, from the confirmed presence of the new Wolverine game (more on that below) to more recent new game announcements that haven't had much more than an initial teaser.
I've also thrown in a handful of cross-platform heavy-hitters for good measure, since the current list of PS5 exclusive offerings is growing a little thin these days. But I think you'll agree that all of these games are pretty likely contenders when it comes to the PS5 games to watch for at SGF this year, so keep scrolling and theorize with me.
Latest Videos From1. Marvel's Wolverine
Developer: Insomniac Games
Platform(s): PS5
Release date: September 15, 2026
This is less of a prediction, more of a certainty. With June 2026's Sony State of Play already locked in, Marvel's Wolverine will be kicking off the pre-SGF festivities in adamantine-clawed style. We can expect a deep-dive into the upcoming Marvel game during the showcase, which will hopefully add a little color to the picture given how little we've seen of Logan despite the game already having a release date.
2. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Developer: Naughty Dog
Platform(s): PS5
Release date: TBC
It's not been too long since our first glimpse of the latest Naughty Dog game, but as one of the few new PS5 exclusives on my radar, I'm hoping to see Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in June's State of Play showcase. I added this one to our Wildcard Wishlist because at the time of writing, it did feel like a longshot. But now that Sony has confirmed it will be showing off at least something this June, this pipedream inches closer to reality. All we have to go on at the moment is a gorgeous if brief cinematic trailer and some snippets of melee combat in-action, so perhaps it's time we get a closer look at the story and sci-fi world Naughty Dog has been cooking for us?

Developer: S-Game
Platform(s): PC, PS5
Release date: September 9, 2026
Phantom Blade Zero couldn't come at a better time. Wuxia ARPGs are all the rage right now, and we're finally only months away from developer S-Game's stunning new hack-n-slasher. I feel like we've been previewing this one on GamesRadar+ for years now – my action-RPG megafan colleague has been raving about it – and it's still one of the most exciting new games coming to PS5 three years post-reveal. I'm a little sad I might not get to check it out yet on my Xbox, given its timed platform exclusivity on PS5, but that fact alone has me pretty confident that we'll be seeing more of Phantom Blade Zero during Sony State of Play on June 2, if not during SGF weekend itself!
4. Untitled John Wick game
Developer: Saber Interactive
Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
Release date: TBC
By far one of the coolest games at the last State of Play, I'm dying to see more of the new John Wick game in development at Saber Interactive. With Keanu Reeves back in action as the eponymous action hero, the trailer shown at Sony's last showcase gave us a taste of the chaos we can expect, from pens in eye-sockets to throwing henchmen around like ragdolls, and I have a feeling John Wick might show up again in time for SGF 2026. This might not be a Sony-published initiative, but third-party games are almost always featured among the best PS5 games in these State of Play broadcasts.
