Twenty-one people were injured on Monday afternoon after a double-decker bus collided with a highway maintenance vehicle on Hong Kong’s Tsing Kwai Highway.
Police received a report at 2.05pm that a KMB route 960 double-decker bus, travelling from Wan Chai to Tuen Mun, collided with a maintenance truck equipped with a flashing arrow sign near Princess Margaret Hospital.
A dashcam video circulating online shows the moment of the crash. The KMB bus ploughs into the maintenance truck without slowing down, sending debris flying across the road.
AdvertisementThe force of the impact then pushes the construction vehicle forward by several metres, nearly striking a worker standing in front of it.

The worker manages to get out of the way in time, darting across two lanes to a nearby concrete median, as the bus continues moving forward before finally coming to a halt.
AdvertisementThe crash shattered the bus’s windscreen and left the driver trapped in his cabin. He was freed by rescue personnel after multiple fire engines and ambulances arrived at the scene.
